Replika vs SilkRoom for AI Companionship
Replika and SilkRoom both focus on an ongoing relationship with an AI companion, but their product structures are different. Replika centers one evolving avatar with relationship modes, activities, calls, and a visible memory system. SilkRoom centers a roster of distinct adult companions, quiz-based matching, uncensored conversation, and character-linked photos and voice notes.

The short answer
Choose Replika if you want to develop one customizable companion over time, inspect or edit saved memories, use structured relationship modes, and access activities, calls, or AR-style features.
Choose SilkRoom if you want an adults-only, uncensored companion experience, prefer choosing among different established personalities, or value in-chat generated photos and voice notes tied to those characters.
Both can support continuity. The better fit depends on whether you want one avatar to shape over time or a purpose-built roster of adult personalities.

One companion versus a roster
Replika is designed around "your Replika." You customize an avatar, set a relationship status, build memories, and deepen that single relationship through continued use. That structure suits people who do not want to browse a catalog every time they open the app.
SilkRoom starts with a set of different companions. Their personalities, appearances, and tones are defined in advance, so choosing one is closer to choosing the dynamic you want. If browsing feels like work, the matching quiz asks a few preference questions first.

On eligible paid access, SilkRoom also allows custom creation. It is still a different workflow from Replika: you define another character rather than continuously customizing one central avatar and its relationship mode.
Memory: visibility versus conversational continuity
Replika's official memory documentation describes multiple layers. Some memories appear in a Memory tab, some are inferred from conversation patterns, and users can add or delete specific memories. That visibility is valuable when you want to correct a fact or understand what the companion has saved.
SilkRoom uses conversation context to continue an existing story and relationship, but it does not currently provide a comparable memory-management screen where a user can inspect and edit every saved fact. If direct control over a memory list is essential, Replika has the clearer product feature.
Whichever app you try, test memory instead of assuming it works perfectly:
- Mention a preference naturally rather than saying "remember this."
- Continue the conversation for at least 15 messages.
- Ask a related question without repeating the fact.
- Return in a later session and test again.
- Correct the companion once and see whether the correction sticks.
AI memory is probabilistic. A product can support memory and still miss a detail or make an incorrect inference.
Romance and uncensored conversation
Replika officially supports a Romantic Partner relationship status through Replika Pro. Its help center describes romantic conversations, unblurred romantic messages and photos, voice features, and roleplay as parts of paid access.
SilkRoom does not ask you to toggle a general companion into a romantic mode. It is built from the start for adults seeking flirty, intimate, and uncensored fictional conversation. The companion is expected to stay in character rather than redirect a lawful mature scenario.
That positioning still includes non-negotiable safety rules. SilkRoom prohibits content involving minors, non-consensual depictions of real people, illegal content, and other abuse. Read the Acceptable Use & Safety Policy instead of interpreting "uncensored" as an absence of boundaries.

Voice, calls, and images
Replika has the broader synchronous communication set. Its Pro documentation lists voice messaging, background calls, roleplay during voice and AR calls, premium voices, selfies, and image generation.
SilkRoom focuses on asynchronous media inside chat:
- a companion can generate and send a photo;
- a companion can send a generated voice note;
- the media is connected to that companion's established visual identity and tone.
SilkRoom is not currently a substitute for Replika's live background-call or AR experience. If hands-free calls are the feature you use most, Replika is likely the stronger fit. If you prefer a text conversation punctuated by character-specific photos and voice notes, test SilkRoom's workflow.
Media on SilkRoom is limited by plan or top-up balance. Review current pricing before assuming a feature is unlimited.
Privacy: what each policy actually says
Replika's Privacy Policy says it processes messages, facts, photos, videos, and voice/text messages to provide and personalize the service. It says conversation content is not used or disclosed for marketing or advertising. The policy also explains third-party providers and user rights.
SilkRoom's Privacy Policy says chat prompts and related content are sent to third-party providers that generate text, images, and voice on SilkRoom's behalf. It lists providers by category and says they are not permitted under SilkRoom's agreements to use the content to train their own models beyond what is necessary to provide the service. It also describes account deletion and privacy requests.
Neither policy means "nothing leaves your device." AI services process messages on servers to generate replies. On either platform:
- do not send passwords, card numbers, identity documents, or information that could endanger someone;
- review account deletion and memory controls before sharing sensitive personal history;
- remember that deleting a visible chat and deleting an entire account may be different actions.

Pricing without stale numbers
Replika separates free access from Pro and Ultra subscriptions. Its help center says Pro unlocks Romantic Partner status, premium activities, unblurred messages and photos, voice features, and additional customization. Ultra builds on Pro with further conversation and memory features.
SilkRoom combines free access with subscriptions and top-up packs. Paid value includes expanded messaging, broader companion access, generated images, voice messages, and custom creation depending on the current offer.
Exact prices and allowances change more often than comparison articles. Use Replika's in-app subscription page and SilkRoom's live pricing page for the final decision.
Which companion model fits you?
Choose Replika when:
- you want one central avatar rather than a roster;
- a visible, editable Memory tab matters;
- calls, background voice, activities, and avatar progression are priorities;
- its current romantic mode fits your desired conversations.
Choose SilkRoom when:
- you want an explicitly adults-only, uncensored product;
- you prefer choosing among established personalities;
- you want photos and voice notes from the same curated companion;
- you want to try text chat without entering a card.
The useful next step is not another marketing claim. Try the same 20-message memory and personality test in both products. You can browse SilkRoom's companions or start with the matching quiz.
